Renewing Minds:
Serving the church and society through
Christian higher education
Featuring Dr. David Dockery

We live in a time of unprecedented change. . . .
The growth of human knowledge is incessant and, somehow, accelerating.
The application
of science staggers the capacity of our imaginations.
Technology seems near-omnipotent,
but its every quantum leap becomes immediately, yet inexplicably, obsolete.
This is the new
reality for Christian Educators— our world as scholar-practitioners.

Last Minute Information for 2009 NAPCE Conference Attendees
Dear Friends,
We will be so delighted to join you later this week in Louisville at the Historic Brown Hotel. It is going to be a dynamic time together.
During this year's conference, we have added a few program changes to make our conference a little more creative-- as well as more productive. One particular change is the addition of an entirely new program element we are calling "Study Initiatives."
Study Initiatives will be multiple break out options from which to choose, where we will seek to address some of the issues and challenges within the broader field of Christian Education. In the recent "MAPPING CE" study performed by Dr. Kevin Lawson and a team of researchers, several matters of importance to professors of Christian education were outlined. We will begin to look at many of these very issues in our Study Initiatives breakout groups.
Here are the sessions from which to choose and what you might want to bring to better prepare for collegial sharing and interaction at those sessions during our conference:
Adjunct Faculty Selection, Orientation, and Training: Think of ideas or bring written standards for equipping and training adjunct professors for quality control
Foundational Core Curriculum: Bring any documents or files you think would be helpful in a dialogue about building a suggested Foundational Core for inclusion in all standard Christian Education programs
Syllabus Sharing and Collaboration: Bring documents or files of your best and weaker syllabi for interaction with others
R.E.S.P.E.C.T.Brainstorming: Bring fresh ideas about how to gain respect as a C.E. prof within the broader institution
Models of Field Education Excellence: Bring printed documents or files that outline best practices or your institution's standards of field education/internship/practicum for interaction with others
Needed Textbook Collaborations: Bring ideas about what textbooks are needing to be written or updated/revised, and for which classes and programs.
If you will consider bringing any of these for the session you'd like to attend, it will help us make this a valuable and fruitful time of interaction.
Thank you and see you Thursday!

Exhibitors
Each year we invite publishers of Christian education materials to participate with us in the conference. Several options for involvement are available. These are listed on the Exhibitor’s Contract Form. This is an outstanding way for publishers to get the word out about their resources and it helps us as professors keep up-to-date on what is available.
